Opening Ceremony

Today was the day of our opening ceremonies. I volunteered myself as a "spare" flag-bearer and I wound up representing The Netherlands on stage! As you can imagine, I thought that was quite amusing. I also need to add to my list of nations for people I've met; today I met individuals from Sweden, Switzerland, Malta, Japan, and China. So many names and faces...

Here's some pictures of the campus:

And now the opening ceremony:

The logo... huzzah!

The theater... huzzah!

We're getting our instructions. At this point I'm sitting on standby. The pictures end here because after this I've got The Netherlands flag in my hands, waving it around with theatrical patriotism... huzzah!

After all this commotion we met in an old looking room and had drinks and got the chance to meet some people who were involved with making the forum a reality, and some of the keynote speakers. I got the chance to speak with a Post-doc researcher in regenerative medicine and a Swedish student with as much enthusiasm for physics as can be found in a single person.

I'm off to grab some lunch and then it's more lectures and then a party.

Huzzah!
